EMail Marketing for Small Business
Successful email marketing begins with understanding some of the fundamentals:
- Start with a good subject line that will make recipients want to have a look at what you have to say
- Follow through with interesting information. Don’t drag it out and bore your readers. Make it short and simple. Is it an extract from one of your blogs? Give readers the idea, with a “read more” link, if they have more interest.
- Don’t provide too many articles. A lengthy email won’t be read and, if you continue to send out emails that are too long, recipients won’t want to open it, perhaps thinking, “Jane’s emails are always so long. I’ll open it later, when I have more time”. The problem is, later may never come.
- Always give recipients a chance to “opt out”. This is an extremely good practice. It’s okay if someone doesn’t want to hear from you on a regular basis. You just don’t want to anger folks unnecessarily.
